Saganaki Feta Cheese in Phyllo with Honey

Ingredients
  • Feta cheese  /  2 pieces
  • Phyllo  /  2 sheets
  • Egg white  /  1 lightly beaten
  • Navarino Icons Pure Greek Honey  /  4 tsp
  • Navarino Icons Extra Virgin Olive Oil  /  100ml
  • Black sesame seeds  / 

Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough and place a piece of feta cheese in the center, about 2 cm from the corners. Cut the phyllo dough about 2 cm from the edge of the feta cheese to create space for wrapping. Brush the edges of the phyllo dough with egg white to help it stick together and secure the feta cheese inside.
Wrap the feta cheese in the phyllo dough, folding the corners inward to create a "pack" shape. Use a knife to trim any excess phyllo dough. Roll each wrapped feta cheese in a piece of kitchen paper and place in the freezer for 1.5 hours to firm up.

Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add Navarino Icons Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Once the pan is hot, add each phyllo-wrapped feta cheese slice to the pan and fry for approximately 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the fried feta cheese from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil. Transfer the fried feta cheese to a serving plate. Drizzle with Navarino Icons Greek Forest Honey and sprinkle with black sesame seeds for garnish.
